Celebrate Motherhood With A Studio Maternity Photo Session

Calgary Maternity Photographer | Maternity Photo Studio

Ready to celebrate your pregnancy and show off your baby bump?

A studio maternity photo shoot is a wonderful way to celebrate and capture the beauty and essence of motherhood. It allows expectant mothers to create lasting memories and cherish the special bond they share with their unborn child. It is also a great way to preserve the joy, beauty, and excitement of expecting a child through gorgeous printed imagery.

Below I have provided some benefits to celebrating your pregnancy through a studio maternity photography session as well as some helpful tips when planning for your maternity photo shoot. Maternity photography in a studio provides expecting mothers the opportunity to capture this momentous occasion in a comfortable, private space. Without the hassles of posing in front of strangers or worrying about the unpredictable nature of outdoor weather conditions, pregnant women can feel relaxed and secure as they pose for these special memories.

A Safe and Controlled Environment

Studio maternity photography is a great option for parents-to-be who want to capture a special moment of their pregnancy without having to worry about the unpredictability of the outdoors. In Calgary, the weather can be very unpredictable with extreme high and low temperatures. The controlled environment of a maternity photography studio offers a safe and secure space for mother and child, so that we can comfortably capture those sweet, memorable moments! When considering studio maternity photography, look for a photographer that provides a studio that has an atmosphere that is both comfortable and safe. My studio is fully equipped with all that you will need during your session and provides lots of space for moving around should you need to take small breaks in-between posing. When it comes to studio maternity photography, I have all the necessary tools to make your photo shoot a success. From ensuring the perfect lighting and climate temperature to providing any props or backdrops you might need, I am here to take care of it all.

Maternity Clothing That Works

Whether having your maternity session outdoors or in studio, clothing does play a huge role in the style and feel of your final maternity portraits. When selecting maternity clothing for your maternity photo session, consider the guidelines of complementing neutrals and bold colors, and stick to fabrics that move well and fall into place instead of stiff garments. Flowing dresses, fitted tops, and maxi skirts are great options. Try to avoid wearing oversized clothes so that your baby bump can take centerstage in your maternity photos and if you're undecided about which dress or outfit will look best, seek advice from your photographer on what would look great on camera!

All maternity photo sessions booked at our Calgary maternity photography studio do include a styling consultation where we will discuss the vision for your final maternity photos as well as going through your current wardrobe to select the outfits that will work best for the photo shoot. Should you not have anything in your current wardrobe that you feel great in, I do have a variety of maternity gowns and outfits in our client closet that can be used during your session. If you are wanting to purchase something special to wear during your maternity photoshoot, I would highly recommend checking out Baby And Me Maternity Boutique, Ella Bella Maternity or Seven Women Maternity as all three of these Calgary maternity stores offer a beautiful selection of maternity outfits that would work great for your maternity photo shoot!

Studio Maternity Poses Tailored to Your Style

In a comfortable relaxed studio setting, I will help you capture this special time in your life. I do provide pre-session styling consultations to help craft a one-of-a-kind maternity session tailored to match your vision. During your studio session you will have the opportunity to explore various poses as well as try on and wear any of the maternity gowns I have available in my client closet.

Maternity poses can make or break a maternity photo shoot which is why it is important that the photographer that you select for your maternity photo session is a professional maternity photographer that has experience photographing pregnancy. After narrowing down the photographer of your choice, have a discussion about your desired poses and what you are comfortable showcasing infront of the camrea. Pregnancy photos are usually photographed in your third trimester when it can start to get more challenging to move around so it’s important that you talk to your photographer about what you feel comfortable with and how you would like to be photographed during your maternity session.

Some expecting mothers love to show off their baby bump with semi-nude portraits and others prefer to stay fully dressed during their session. Knowing what your preference is ahead of time will help the photographer tailor your session to you and select the perfect poses and angles based on the pregnancy photos they will photographed. Two of my favourite maternity poses are looking away from the camera and glancing down at your baby bump or having your arms positioned on the sides of you baby bump in an embracing motion around the belly. Both of these maternity poses result in stunning maternity portraits to cherish forever and work whether nude, semi-nude or fully clothed!
